•    About

    Who are we?

Stamps Landing Yacht Club (SLYC) was founded in 1989 by a number of boat owners based at Heather Civic Marina, and with the assistance of the original Stamps Landing Pub. Many original members were formerly members of the Jib Set.

Over the years our membership has evolved to include members who keep their boats at Burrard Bridge Marina, Spruce Marina, and even as far afield as the Sunshine Coast and the Gulf Islands.

Do I need to own a boat?

Actually, no. Some of our members are in-between boats, and some have never owned a boat. As long as you’re interested in being around boats, learning, or talking about boating, you’re in! There’s nothing wrong with being an “armchair skipper”!

    How big is the Club?

Currently we’re about 35 members, with about 15 boats, so we’re more like a boating family, and it won’t take long to get to know everyone. We’re not interested in being a big club, but we do want to welcome new members!

    What do we do?

We host several cruises and shore-based activities throughout the year, typically including:

    • Annual General Meeting
    • St. Patty’s Day Cruise to Bowen Island
    • Sailpast
    • Cruise to Newcastle Island
    • Cruise to Plumper Cove
    • Gambier Island Raft-Up
    • False Creek BBQ Raft-Up
    • Thanksgiving Day Cruise to Gibsons
    • Wind-up Cruise to Snug Cove
    • Christmas Party

    Thursday Night Social

Happens every Thursday night, 7:30 onwards, at the False Creek Yacht Club facilities, 1661 Granville St, Vancouver, BC. Just go to the top of the circular stairs, and ask the friendly staff to point you to the SLYC table.

    What else?

Our mission is to promote boating for many reasons, including sharing knowledge, helping each other with sailing skills, keeping boating as inexpensive as possible, the enjoyment of being on the water, and most importantly, keeping it fun!

As a member club of Canadian Yachting Association (CYA), and the Council of BC Yacht Clubs (CBCYC), we support the promotion of water-based activities that are safe, environmentally friendly, educational, and fun and enjoyable for all.

    What does it cost?

Surprise… you don’t have to be rich to be in a yacht club! For a Single Membership, the annual dues (as of January 31 2020) are $95, or $130 for a Family Membership. (includes spouse and children under 18). We don’t own a clubhouse or dock facilities, so we can keep our membership rates affordable.

(Note, Early Bird Discount applies if you renew before January 31)
